About Uas

Uas is founded on the Principle of Ma'at and through the Sovereignty of God. We are decisive, determined, and dedicated to realizing African, and especially African-American liberation, in our time.

Our guiding philosophy is based on our own brand of Kawaida called Sakhairaw, the customs traditions & culture of the Nation of Kemet. It is this translation of Kawaida principles from Pwanit to Kemit that will allow our people to bring all the best of our glorious Aramawi past into contemporary modes and models of living.

Drawing so generously from Kawaida, we would be remiss if we did not here acknowledge the debt of gratitude to the vision, great pioneering work, imitable example and life struggle of our beloved Elder Dr. Maulana Ron Karenga. Uas was named The Organization to pay tribute and give due recognition to the accomplishments, gifts, and contributions this Elder has provided in the Us Organization, Kawaida, Nguzo Saba, Kwanzaa, Cultural Nationalism, Husia etc.

Finally, we pay respects to those beloved Elders who have transitioned to become Ancestors; whose work, life, and struggle have formed the basis and laid the foundation of all we do:

To the Honorable Elijah Karriem Muhammad whose Nation of Islam serves as a reminder that our God, who wants us to be free, spares nothing in reaching his People; By any means necessary!

To the Honorable Marcus Mosiah Garvey whose UNIA-ACL reminds us that we are still Africans, in whatever lands we find ourselves, and that our common cause and common blood remain the same.

To the Honorable Booker Taliaferro Washington whose famed Tuskeegee Institute reminds us that love of learning is part of our tradition, and that there is no substitute for our own hard work, labor, and sacrifice to make us a free and prosperous People.

And lastly but preeminently,

To the Honorable Harriet Araminta Tubman whose heroic exploits of bravery and courage in both daring to be free and in returning to the land of bondage and risking her own freedom to liberate others via the Underground Railroad remind us how truly blessed we are to have the Black Woman as mother, sister, wife or daughter, but always effective and exhibiting the best examples of womanhood.

May they live, prosper, and be hale forever!
